Colmar Manor's Green Street Update August 2023

Green Street Concept

Colmar Manor is building a Green Street down Newark Rd. In previous years construction has taken place at 40th Ave. and Newark Rd. The bricks in this intersection helps filter water into the ground to prevent flooding and improve the water quality of rain water entering the Dueling Creek and Anacostia.

This year, the town used grant funding from the Chesapeake Bay Trust, to engineer the intersection 43rd Ave. and Newark Rd. and at 41st Ave and Newark Rd.

In June, the town was awarded $80,450 to construct the new permeable pavement at 43rd Ave and Newark Rd. Colmar Manor is one of 36 awards totaling $1,850,576 made to projects across Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia as part of the Green Streets, Green Jobs, Green Towns Grant Program.
